Applicants should possess the following or its equivalent qualification
i) Must possess a degree of Bachelor of Fisheries Science awarded by the Tamil Nadu Fisheries University or any other University or Institution recognized by the University Grants Commission;
(or)
(ii) Must possess a degree of M.Sc. in Zoology or Marine Biology or Coastal Aquaculture or Mariculture or Special Zoology or Coastal Engineering or Oceanography awarded by any University or Institution recognized by the University Grants Commission.
Provided that candidates possessing the qualifications prescribed in item (ii) shall be considered only if no candidates with qualification prescribed in item (i) are available.
Selection Process:
1. Examination ( CBT)
2. Oral test( interview)
The final selection will be made on the basis of the total marks obtained by the applicants at the CBT Examination and Oral test together subject to the rule of reservation of appointments.

Total Marks: 510
Paper -1 ( subject paper) ( 200 qn, 300 marks)
1. Fisheries science ( Degree standard)
2. Zoology ( PG degree standard)
Paper-2( 200 qn)
Part-A: Tamil eligibility test, 100 qn, 150 marks
( 60/150 minimum qualifying mark, this mark will not to be taken into account for ranking)
Part-B:
General studies: ( 100 qn, 150 marks)
General studies & aptitude and mental ability
Interview and Records: 60 marks
Minimum qualifying marks:
OC/ General: 204 marks
BC/BCM/MBC/DNC/SC/SCA/ST: 153
